footage aspect ratios.

hi I searched and couldn't find the answer, maybe because it's so simple. i'm sorry i'm a newbie and just started exploring this awesome software.

my video footage is 720x1280 [16:9] and when i import it in VPT it appears to be square [1:1] no matter which resolution i take it doesn't change aspect ratio.

should i manually distort all the layers then so it would be 16:9?

In the navigator you can change the aspect ratio in the 'map' tab. There is a dropdownmenu in the right upper corner. By default it's 4:3 but you can change it to 16:9.
