Hi, i have just discoverd VPT in the last few weeks while looking for a solution to do a live video mapped presentation for a client.
The Show consists of  musicians performing simultaneously from 6 locations around the world via a polycom conference system. Audio is being tackled by others with jack trip.
We are providing the live vision for the main hub of the concert in Australia.
our presentation will consist of stored Quicktime content and live feeds. This is the bit I have not been able to find much info on.
Poly com will provide me with 6x DVI, or composite feeds that i will put into our vision mixer along with 2x cameras onsite. From here i can mix down to 2x seperate feeds for the "live inputs" of VPT.
Questions: 1. Does VPT6 actually do live feed straight to the screen or is it recorded to a file first?
                 2. What is used to input this into VPT? ie capture device and/or other software recomendations please.
I will have 3x wxga projectors in a 3x1 configuration, projecting onto a 9m by 3m surface. I have ordered a Triplehead2go (digital edition) as recomended by HC many times.
                 3. Is the Tripplehead2go limited by the capabilities of the graphics card of the connected computer?
I have been learning VPT on my W7 HP laptop with 512MB graphics using 1x vga connected projector. This has worked fine so far but I am building a PC tower or purchasing a Mac Pro Quad Core and will be fitting cards to suit.
                  4. Please help me with suggetions for cards and set up for either system or both.
Thank you very much in advance,
Brett.

it does live feed directly, but depending on your capture card/system
there might be latency.

I have personally only used capture either with usb or firewire
cameras, so I don´t really have any reocmmendations for you.

I would think not unless you have a really crappy graphics card. I use
it often with a macbookpro from 2009 or a macmini from 2010 without
any particular issues.

I don´t have experience with this unfortunately.

Perhaps you can take a look at blackmagic products.

I use a blackmagic intensity shuttle (http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/intensity/) to capture video and that works really good and with a minimum of latency, even hd-sources. Before that i used an Easycap dc 60+ usb-dongle (http://easycapexpertti.mybisi.com/product/easycap-dc60-v21c-usb-20-video-capture-xp-vista) with videoglide software: it's cheaper and works to but with some more latency and only composite or s-video.

If you plan to build a Mac Pro you could consider the Blackmagic decklink capture and playback cards. In that case you don't need a capture device nor a triplehead. Just that card.
