Did not work

I have tried the tutorial at http://www.vogella.de/articles/Android/article.html
about Android.

However, it did not work completely here. I could complete 3.3 "Create
and use attributes". For 3.4, I noticed that my Eclipse had not
generated the R.java file. There is a "gen" directory, but it is
empty. Consequently, the Hello.java file complains about a missing
class "R". The Eclipse version is 3.5.1. Everything else is just as in
the tutorial.

By the way, a second attempt to start the Android emulator failed. Is
that normal. I will reboot and try again.

Hello,

Finally, I found this question. Mine is a similar situation. I am running on fedora 16 32 bit. Guided by your tutorial and the guidelines on the android blog, i installed eclipse and the android sdk without a hitch. I, however, have tried the temperature convert and even, a simple hello world, but i get the following errors.

Parsing Data for android-15 failed org/w3c/dom/ElementTraversal
R cannot be resolved into a variable

I am running the latest Java jre and jdk and an updated android SDK (r19). A java program can compile and run on eclipse, but I cannot get my first android project to work. I also have an empty gen folder.

Please help.
