I've got 5 PCs that I'm trying to use to train disadvantaged young
people. The problem is they are riddled with viruses and a firewall
blocks me from updating them. The people in charge of maintaining the
PCs won't fix them or give me the admin password (Win XP) to let me

vnc to dv

I haven't been able to build vncrec, I can try this... hoping someone
can review and give me any tips if it looks like it won't work.

I would like to convert the vnc stream to dv in real time, so no
saving to files, just vncrec -record /dev/stdout | transcode -i /dev/
stdin -f 11 -p /dev/dsp -g 720x480 --export_fps 4 -y dvraw -o /dev/

Little fuzzy on what the build requirements are. here is what I have

Hi folks,

does anyone have experience with doing VNC recordings with more than
1 monitors? I have a pc running with 3 screens. Via vnc viever I can
see them "merged" in one wide screen, but when I try to record the
session, it records only display 0, the first one. I should change the
display offset/index somewhere, shouldn't I ?

vncrec permission denied?

(SOLVED)
I was missing the libXp-devel library.
After installing it (yum install libXp-devel) the error message
disappeared.

This is a known problem in build system which I haven't had time to
fix. If you have vncrec binary in vncrec directory, you can safely
ignore the error because it's just trying to creat man file which you
probably don't use. If not, you can do 'cd vncrec; make' and then you
can get the functional binary.

Since my main Linux machine was broken, I haven't set up my machine to
be able to do proper vncrec develpment. But it looks like your build
is stopped at building man page and it is not required to run vncrec
binary itself. So you can probably just do "cd vncrec; make" and get
a functional binary.

Sorry for late reply. I hope you already solved the problem yourself.
I heard there are problems converting 24 bpp video. You might get
better result with 16 bpp.
There's another way to produce video using vncrec, using the version
by Tilman Kranz.
