I've wanted to install vmware ver 1.1.2 on my RH 5.2 but I've failed to
generate appropriate license key for this version. The key generated for me
was for the latest ver 3.2 but this cannot run on my machine. How can I get
the license for 1.1.2 ?

Pretty obvious. You have a license for V 3.2. How do you expect to get
it to work with V 1.1.2?

Analogy:

I bought latest XP from MS. Hmm I have licence for XP. Will be able to
run Dos 6.2 because I own XP? NO !!!!

Cheers,
Michael

It's not obvious ! I've found vmware on computer magazine's CD. I've read
the necessary step to install it is to generate license on manufacturer's
website. I've thought the key is a general one for all versions but it's
not. That why I asked for help.

You've got some very old magazine... You should upgrade your system
to something what can be connected to the internet without being hacked
in one minute, and after such upgrade VMware 3.2 will work on your
system...

Petr !
You might be right but I don't want to upgrade. I just want to generate the
key for vmware 1.1.2. How to do that ?

Your best bet will be to contact VMware, Inc. directly and ask for their
assistance with your licensing issue.

When, where, how did you purchase VMware 1.1.2?

If you purchased it legally from VMware (back when they still sold it)
you got a license key back then.

IF you are claiming that you just now purchased it, well....that would
be difficult since VMware does not sell that version anymore.

Use the one you got when you BOUGHT the 1.1.2 version.

If you never bought it, then you're out of luck because you CAN'T buy
it.

If you're trying to use it without buying it, then you're a lowlife
thief and beneath contempt.

You probably don't.

It's an obsolete, discontinued product that they no longer sell or
support.

So the odds of them selling you a full license for it or even giving
you a 30 day evaluation license would seem pretty slim.
