Can you check it?

Thanks

I am experiencing the same failure as josemaX, when trying to use
'vmware-any-any-update117 (2).tgz '.

I am also using Fedora 9 Preview, with the same kernel version.

I used the file vmware-any-any-update117b.tgz with success on a
"stock" Fedora 9 system, kernel  2.6.25.4-30.fc9.i686.

Thanks to whoever provided the "b" version, even if it is still
strangely packaged (folders within folders, eventually to a vmware-any-
any-update-115 folder!).

I used the file vmware-any-any-update117b.tgz

Kernel 2.6.25.6-27.fc8
VMware Workstation 6.0.0 build-45731

Vmware ran well but when I boot the OS I got
Version mismatch with vmmon module: expecting 161.0, got 167.0.

I change the number 167 to 161 in the iocontrols.h and
iocontrols_compat.h
, which are packaged in the vmmon.tar
Then, everything works find now.

Thanks guys who provide the patch files.

Hi had the same problem but got it working by

1 download and apply the vmware-any-any-update117c patch first (gets
you to the point where the network is configured)
then as you say bombs out.
so read a bit more and ...
2. patch  vmware-any-any-update117b was reported to work ;-) so ...
download vmware-any-any-update117b try that,

now vmware comes up and says your network is setup do you want to keep
it ? so yes to this now gets to the vmnet module, but this time this
goes straight through !!

I'm using standard  2.6.25.10-86.fc9.x86_64 plus 1.0.5 build-80187 of
vmware server (as it's free ;-))
running now with no problems ;-)

hope this helps,

E

interesting, so i guessed 117b has got the VMNet patched correctly,
which can be incorporated into 117c.

Thanks for the sharing.
