Rob Tweed will be offering three days of intensive EWD training before the
VistA Community Meeting if a minimum of 5 attend the training. The course
description is below and the cost will be $1000 per student. The course
will be offered in one of the hotels near the location of the VistA
Community Meeting where rooms will be available for $89 a night for
attendees. As with the other two courses offered, please let me know at
nancy at worldvista dot org if you wish to attend and we will open a
registration site as soon as I know we have enough students to avoid the
credit card fees, etc. if there are not at least 5 coming to take the
course.

EWD For VistA Developers
====================

This course is designed for all VistA developers who wish to learn how to
use the EWD web application development framework to modernise VistA and
make it accessible from desktop browsers and mobile devices.

The course will assume no prior knowledge of EWD or of web application
development. By the end of the 3 day course, all students should be
capable of building desktop and mobile web front-ends on top of VistA.

The course will start by examining in detail how web applications work and
the many critical issues faced by web application developers that are
addressed and automated by EWD.

It will then focus on how EWD works, its design principles and philosophy,
before focusing on how it simplifies the use of the very latest breed of
Javascript frameworks, in particular ExtJS and Sencha Touch,

The next step will be to examine how EWD can be used in conjunction with
VistA: the techniques required and a glimpse at the future direction this
work is starting to take.

Along the way, students will participate in hand-on exercises. To this
end, all students should come prepared with a laptop and have an installed
and running version of the dEWDrop Virtual Machine (
http://www.fourthwatchsoftware.com). Important Note: there will *not* be
time during the course to help with its download and installation.
