I have Pages installed on my iPad. I want to add a document which I have saved into iCloud. I can find the add button but once activated, I gett a choice to add a document from iTunes or Webdav but not from iCloud. I looked in the settings Pages menu and iCloud is selected there. I thought maybe webdav was iCloud and tried to sign in with my credentials but it didn't work - silly idea of mine, I think. A sign of desperation.
Do you have a Mac, and if so, do you have Pages on the Mac? If you do, save the document in iCloud using Pages on your Mac, and you'll be able to retrieve it with Pages on your iPad. If you don't, save the file in Dropbox, and use the Dropbox app to export it to Pages on your iPad.
Best,
Anna

I have a mac computer but I haven't got Pages on it. The document in question was created in TextEdit on the mac and saved in iCloud.. I understand that the principle of iCloud is to save documents there in order to share them with all your other devices. I therefore am puzzled why I can't see the choice in Pages on my iPad that would allow me to retrieve the document from there. As I said: I have webdav button but not iCloud. Do others on the list who have Pages on their iPads have such a button?
You need to save or, move the document made by text edit into the pages iCloud folder. The bad news is, you can't do this directly from Text edit. Here are the steps you would have to take. First, If you have iCloud enabled on your Mac, text edit, will by default save your documents to the text edit iCloud folder. I will recommend just leaving this as is for the purpose we're talking about. So, once your document is saved, go to your finder and press command shift G. This brings up your go to dialog box. then type in ~/library and press enter. You need to do this to access the your home library because this folder is hidden ever since 10.7 Lion. So, In the library folder go to mobile documents/com~apple~TextEdit/documents and select the documents you want to show up on your iPad in pages. Now go to mobile documents/com~apple~Pages/documents and paste or move the files there. Actually, to make your life a little easier, you can copy what I'm about to write directly into the go dialog box that appears when yu press command shift G in the Finder to take you directly to the text edit folder. Type in ~/library/mobiledocuments/com~apple~TextEdit/documents
Just paste that in and press enter. then, once you've selected the file you want to view in pages on your iPad press command shift G again and enter, ~/library/mobile documents/com~apple~Pages/documents press enter then paste the files.
They will now be on your iPad. I know, its a lot. haha. Maybe someone can create an apple script to automate this process.
