Subject: A Quick Computer Braile Input Question
Hello Fellow Braille Users,

How does one indicate capitalization in computer Braille?  For the life of
me I cannot remember the dot or dots that precede the letter that is to be
capitalized.

Thank you,

Mark

Hi Mark,

I've always used Space with U before a letter to indicate capital letters in computer braille. Does this work?

Cheers,
Chantelle

Hi Mark,
Press dot 7 along with the letter to capitalize it. It's on the left side of the keyboard, to the left of dot 3.

Best,
Anna

Hello,

In computer braille, each and every character stands on its own. It is just like print alpha-numeric characters. Basically, each capital letter and lower case letter in print all look quite different. The capital sign in braille gives many blind people the impression that capital and lower-case letters look the same.

In computer braille, dot 7 with any letter symbolises that the letter is upper-case.

Hello Mark.

It's dots six proceeded by a letter or two dot sixes for blocked caps proceeded by a letter.

Regards,

Kawal.

Hello Everyone and thank you so much for the responses.

I have never heard of using a space U before.

The dot 7 in conjunction with the letter is the one I had forgotten.

Kawal, a dot 6 immediately preceding a letter is the capitalization symbol
used in what is sometimes referred to as literary Braille.

Computer Braille is a different code; for example, if memory serves, in
computer Braille, dot 6 can function as a comma.

So many Braille codes, so little time.  (Smile).

Buried deep in my garage is a small Braille pamphlet containing all the
codes.  As it is highly unlikely that I will find it, I'll probably contact
the National Braille Press to order another one.  Now that I have a Braille
display, I should reacquaint myself with all the marvelous symbols.

Again, thank you all most kindly.

Mark
