I'm getting an iPod soon, a 32GB model. I'll be sharing the iPad I have more with my daughter. So I'll be moving from a large typing on-screen keyboard to a smaller one. What is the best way of typing on such a small screen, aside from using a Braille display?

Though I've only had my phone a few days, I like the touch typing
method rather than the default touch and tap. I find that while touch
typing I make fewer mistakes.

I gave touch typing a try, but I still prefer split tapping. I didn't
like having to take my finger off of the virtual keyboard at all. I also
tried using the virtual keyboard in landscape mode, but I found I liked
the tighter keyboard in portrait mode better. Moving my finger less beat
out having slightly larger keys.
