What's up with that? Sending a message to vim-uns...@vim.org as
instructed doesn't give me any reply, and vim-su...@vim.org tells me
I'm still subscribed...

About what are you unsubscribing to?

Pardon?
I'm trying to unsubscribe from this vim_use list because it stops being useful to me, but sending an email to vim-unsubscribe yields nothing... I don't quite understand what you're asking, though. Could you please rephrase?

vim-su...@vim.org shouldn't be telling you anything... If you sent
a message to vim-subscribe, you re-subscribed yourself.

Subscribing to the list under a different email address and then
subsequently sending an email to vim-uns...@vim.org, I got a
response:

Subject: Unsubscribe request for vim_use [{....................}]
From: vim_use+un...@googlegroups.com

Where the .'s are a string of letters and numbers. Responding to that
email (as it instructed), I was then unsubscribed, as confirmed in this
email:

Subject: Your unsubscription to vim_use was successful.
From: vim_use...@googlegroups.com

Are you sure you sent the email from the email address with which you
originally subscribed? If so, check your spam folder.

From how I read the OP's message, it sounded like they tried the
vim-unsubscribe@ and then were curious if they were still on the
list. Then, sending a message to vim-subscribe@ they got the
unexpected message that they were *still subscribed*.

However, if the flow is as you describe with a reply containing a
second-step from vim-unsubconfirm@[NOT vim.org] it's likely that it
got lost somewhere (junk-mail folder, etc).

I still smart from my multiple attempts to re-subscribe when the
list shifted from @vim.org to Google groups. I finally had to have
a moderator (I think Tony saved the day) give an official
kick-in-the-pants to the mailing list to get me on. Hopefully
things aren't as troublesome now.

I just manually unsubscribed this user. According to the
management interface, the user joined the group on 13 May
so they are either new to the group, or they did unsubscribe
but accidentally subscribed again.
