Thanks, I really feel I'm closed but it's not quite working yet...
I put the following line into my .lvimrc file:
and tried the following command from within vim:
but it only gave me the following errors:
E121: Undefined variable: b:tselectfiles_dir
E15: Invalid expression: b:tselectfiles_dir
And the recursive file listing still didn't work :(

 Thanks!
For some reason I forgot to grep for vim71 in ~/.vimrc,
and indeed there was a culprit -- an autocommand which
apparently could be commented out without consequences.
/BP

Hmm.. one scenario is that I have one tab open for project number one
and I am going back and forth between some 6-8 files/buffers, which is a
bit more than I could make visible on my display at the same time.
I guess I could spread them out over several tabs, but I tend to prefer
sticking to just one tab for each project and bringing back recently

I'm terribly sorry but I was mixing up my own plugins. :-)
tselectfiles, which is what we were talking about, doesn't support
retrieving the file list from git. But you can set the project's root
directory and then use the TSelectFilesInSubdirs command. I.e. put the
following line into that .lvimrc file:

I appreciate the positive feedback.
A lot of users could probably benefit from disabling a few rarely-used
colors. White and black, for instance, are probably not very useful
with the default colorscheme on a white background: the former because
it doesn't show up well, the latter because it's redundant with the

 ok,
I copied localvimrc.vim (I just downloaded the newest version - 2758 -
I hope it's ok too) to the .vim/plugin directory.
in my project root folder I created a .lvimrc file with your line:
Now I invoke vim from the root folder of my project (the folder that
has my .git folder in it),
enter the command :TSelectFiles,

Before invoking the :TSelectFiles command you should define a method
from where to get the list of files in your project. I personally use
localvimrc (vimscript #1613) for this. In the root directory of my
project, I have a file .lvimrc that included the following line:
let b:trag_git = expand('<sfile>:p:h') .'/.git'
