Is there a simple way to convert a major emacs mode syntax file into an vim-syntax file?

No. Emacs doesn't even have "syntax files" and the syntax highlighting
concepts are different. I'd say that it's much easier to write syntax
code from the scratch than convert it between Vim and Emacs.

You can open a syntax file that already exists, then changes it. It's much
easier...
