Batman-adv compatible versions?

Can someone please point me to a list of batman-adv versions and their compatibility?

I've been looking so hard, I'm sure I passed it a dozen times already...

I've got a mesh of 4 Ubiquiti Bullet2s with OpenWrt 3.3.5 and batctl 2012.1.0 [batman-adv: 2012.1.0]

And I'd like to get them to play nice with two MeshPotatos running the latest SECN... 

Should I downgrade the Bullets or build newer batman-adv for the MP ??

Just a brief response as I am mobile.
For historical reasons SECN-1.1 is using an older version of kernel and batman-adv for compatibility with the ATA drivers on the MP

Elektra has now got an experimental version going with the latest kernel and barman-adv.

This will be the basis for SECN-2 firmware.

I will post the experimental version which works ok on mesh but doesn't have all the web UI working.

Hi Peter -

there is no compatibility list for the different batman-adv versions, AFAIK. The last time when incompatibility between older and newer versions of batman-adv has been announced by the batman-adv developers was with the release of batman-adv-2011.3.0.

This release also broke compatibility with Linux kernels previous before version 2.6.29, while the old firmware of the MP is based on Openwrt Kamikaze with Linux kernel 2.6.26 :(

Now the good news :)

I am working on upgrading the MP firmware based on the developer version of Openwrt, called Attitude Adjustment. This MP firmware version is based on Linux kernel 2.6.37, hence you are not bound to stick with a specific batman-adv version anymore. You can get development snapshots of the firmware here: http://elektrad.info/download/MESH-POTATO/attitude-adjustment/

I suppose that the firmware is already usable, I have reports that it is working OK. There might be some glitches here and there with the IVR and the SECN web interface, which doesn't reflect the latest state of the SECN development yet. That will be the case with the next snapshot, available soon.

There are currently two batman-adv versions in the package repository for the Attitude-Adjustment firmware:

kmod-batman-adv_2.6.37.6+2011.2.0-1_atheros.ipk - compatible with versions previous to batman-adv-2011.3.0
kmod-batman-adv_2.6.37.6+2012.0.0-1_atheros.ipk - compatible with versions including and later than batman-adv-2011.3.0 (I can not give you a guarantee. If you experience funny effects when mixing different versions, please don't send flames...)

kmod-batman-adv_2.6.37.6+2012.1.0 is in the making...

Again, beware that the AA folder on my server currently contains development snapshots, and not yet a fully tested release. Official releases will be available from the Villagetelco server.

I have two meshpotato running the SECN-2.0... So far so good ( 12 Hrs)

I did see a few issues;

The country code, both on the website and at /etc/config/wireless shows "%25252F"

The broadcast address is still at 10.130.1.255 after changing all addresses via the website to 192.168.x.x

The Save and Reboot, only does Save.. no reboot occurs.

Removing the check from the AP enable box on the website causes batman to fail... nothing shown in dmesg, but if I run "batctl o" I get a statement to check if batman-adv was loaded. and it is.

Here is a pastebin of a few files.. this is with the AP disabled... enabling it again and rebooting cures the batman issue.

Thanks for the feedback. As you have seen, it is very early days for this version and it was intended mainly for testing the new kernel and batman. I have been working on updating the web interface and we should have a more useful version out in a week or so.
