Wow! They have picked up the information we have published and
re-assembled to made a video. Open Source, viral marketing.

I am in some strange place in between flattered and appalled. :-)

hmm.. watching this but will not forward it to all my friends..

it's a pluss for trying to make it very non-technical

minus for dreadful technics.. sound, video... and the woman... why do
they start in the kitchen...

Are there any better movies where we can start promote mesh potato with?

Is there a "marketing" program for presenting the mesh potato to the community?

Good point. A "marketing" video on youtube et al would be great.

I recall there was a TEDx talk on Mesh Potato. Videos for all TEDx
talks should be available (after some time) - I think it'll be a good start
on marketing video.

I also think it is a great idea though I am keen for us to have a little
more proof in the pudding before turning up the marketing. Once there
are production potatoes....

Suggestion:

1.What should it convey and what should the people want after seeing
this? (who is the target auidence...)

E.g Want to attact entrepreneurs world wide to deploy these units?
Want developers on board to improve different parts of it?

2. Agenda of the movie:

These are suggestions:

What is the mesh potato (David R or others?)
(who started it, who funds it... who owns it)
why did we develop the mesh potato (Steve?)
Where is the project now (Elektra / David ?)
What is the future of the potato (Steve)
How can you contribute (Alberto?)

3. Glue it all togheter
If we use webcam interviews from all of you, some pictures and sound,
it is easy to wrap this together to a movie..

but if it is for the general audience, we can wait until we have a
running production!

My two bits:

Since we are on the verge of testing in the 'wild', why don't we draw up a set of themes, from which all testers can send in brief vids from their own experiences, based on select themes? I think that will add value to a global 'market-centric' presentation, using some or all of the suggestions already submitted (below).

It will also satisfy the reservations already expressed, about jumping the gun.

In the meantime, videos produced virally may or may not happen again, and they may or may not meet the highest standards, but let us not try too look too critically at any gift horse in the mouth. :-) (In English, we would be neighsaying such gifts - not sure if this translates well into other languages, apologies).

Great idea! Will work on a plan to integrate this into the beta testing.

Point humbly taken.
