Hi, guys and gals

How is software for the MP built? Is there a special "build environment" (i.e.
GCC settings, special libraries, etc.) for the MP? Where can I find it
documented?

Also, is there an MP emulator or "virtual MP" available? I'm thinking of
something like a QEmu or VMWare "image", along with the requisite VM
configuration, that would permit me to prototype MP software and changes
without an actual physical MP to develop and test on.

Inquiring minds and all that.... ;-)

The process we used during development so far is:

http://wiki.villagetelco.org/index.php/How_to_use_the_software_build_environment

Although this is falling out of date now with the new firmware. Elektra
will post some new documentation on building the latest firmware soon.

Nope. A guy called Mike Taht was working on this - contact me directly
for his email. Not sure how far he got.

Alternatively you can develop today on Nanostation 2 or DIR-300
hardware.

the section 2 "Building Linux for the Mesh Potato" at
http://wiki.villagetelco.org/index.php/How_to_use_the_software_build_environment
is now updated to match the recent changes of the build environment. Just
following the instructions in section 1 and 2 should get you started.

I have added section 3 "Compiling / recompiling a single software package" and
section 4 "Creating a customized Asterisk Mesh-Potato configuration package".

Cheers,
Elektra
