Hi guys,

After Terry's pic's of the floating village in north Vietnam i was
happy to find that they had implemented the OLPC (one laptop per
child) policy. In conversation over xmas i found out that this is
active in Rwanda ( Africa) as we speak. A friend of mine has fallen in
love with the VT concept and will be in Rwanda +/- 2 weeks and one off
his meetings will be with his buddy who runs the OLPC project. The
feedback i get is that the country is stable, has a commited president
that supports upliftment and has full backing of all international
funding. He believes that the VT could be a Godsend there, so my
question is, do we have any active VT projects there already ? Is
there a base or do we start from scratch ?

Happy New year to all and any feedback appreciated

Paul

Hi Paul,

Happy New Year. AFAIK we don't have any Village Telco implementation
in Rwanda. I do know some of the people implementing OpenMRS
(http://www.openmrs.org) in rural Rwanda, for which there may be some
interesting overlaps, if you would like an introduction.

Cheers... Steve
