"we" are Hlabishi Kobo, Zukile Roro, Warren Nel and myself (all from
UWC Computer Science).
We are running a pretty recent version of SECN (help me here, Steve)
on three potatoes, and also have several SIP clients on both Android
and Symbian associating with Asterisk on the potatoes via the
distributed hotspot in infrastructure mode.
It works :-)
Interest has been high, and the ITU and DoC (Department of
Communications) folk are very keen on inverse infrastructure and see
the potential for interconnect in a win-win situation for both rural
communities and service providers/license holders large and small.
People here learn about VT and then rapidly tell us about Italian work
at ICTP on low cost wifi, and FabFi which "rocks" according to
@Michael.
faithfully yours in reporting,
bill
ps. can I tell local peeps that the potato has been ICASA type
approved???
FYI - we have a mesh potato exhibit at ITU Kaleidoscope (http://
www.itu.int/ITU-T/uni/kaleidoscope/2011/) in our backyard in Cape
Town.
