Vikingeskolen will open its doors on Saturday, September 12 at 9:30AM
(optional breakfast at 9:00AM). We are so excited to finally get the
school year started and see you all.

Here are a couple of important reminders and news.

TEACHERS:

LEG & LAER (3-4 years, Boernehave)
Boernehaven will be headed up by Anne Olsen supported by Christina
Linderholm and Charlotte Rhodes.

LAER & LEG (5-7 years, Boernehaveklasse)
Joining us this year is Connie Mcwattie who will teach class A
supported
by Lene Kiersted. Conny Raevmann will teach class B supported by Tina
Fischer and Anne-Mette Buus.

LAER SAA MER (8+ years, 1. Klasse op)
Winnie Bech Jensen will teach our oldest class, supported by Annette
Koch Valenzuela and Charlotte Andersen.

ADULT CLASS
Bo Jakobsen and Ole Sorensen continues to head up the adult class
supported by Anette Seidler.

We currently have 33 registered students.

TEACHER WORKSHOP September 10, 6:30PM at the school. The
workshop is for teachers and assistant teachers and anyone else
who would like to attend. Light refreshment will be provided.

CLASSES START PROMPTLY AT 9:30 AM (with optional breakfast
at 9:00AM). Please arrive on time to be IN class at 9:30AM.

THINGS TO BRING:

Students are welcome to wear their VIKINGESKOLEN T-SHIRT
on the first day of school. If you don't have one, you can buy one
from
the school ($15). Please contact Christina Linderholm at

You are also welcome to place the Vikingeskolen vehicle sticker that
you received at graduation on your car. This durable sticker is great
advertisement for the school and is made of good quality and easy to
peel-off and on. If you'd like more, please contact your teacher.

Please bring 1-3 pictures from your summer holiday (whether in
Denmark or elsewhere) and/or a souvenir from Denmark for conversation
in class.

THE SATURDAY SCHEDULE:

09:00-09:30  Breakfast with Parents (optional)

10:30-10:50  Playground & Snack (Coffee break for adults)
10:50-11:30  Program Part 2
11:30             Classes End/ Parents Pick-up*

*From 11:30 to 11:45 teachers will be available to discuss
student progress and homework. Parents are encouraged
to help their children select books from the "Vikingeskibet"
Library (if you are teaching in another class room teacher
will help pick out one for your child).

Please recognize the importance of reading this book or
doing just a few minutes of homework with your child a few
days during the week. It is essential for reinforcing what they
learn during class and gives them something to show their
teachers.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE:

* Please pick-up your WELCOME PACKAGE with your
child's name on it and bring it home. It has important
information in it.

* Please bring your child all the way to the door and wait
till a teacher or volunteer greets you. Please try to leave
right away (don't hesitate which may make your departure
difficult for the child). The teacher will sign-in the student.

* Please remind or assist your child to the bathroom BEFORE
class. Bathrooms are located next to the reception.

* We encourage our parents to use our breakfast room or
playground when waiting, or leave the premises, but be back
at 11:30 AM. Parents with smaller siblings not in classes are
welcome to let the children play in the breakfast room. We do
ask of you to help us leave the premises in good condition so
volunteers can leave for the weekend quickly too. Remember
Stepping Stones School is letting us use their facilities free of
charge. As such we hope to leave class rooms as we left
them.

* Your child will receive a school bag and/or folder for school
work and artwork. Please help them bring it home and back
to class every Saturday, together with any library books
checked out the previous Saturday unless otherwise
instructed by the teacher.

* Please remember that Vikingeskolen is run by volunteers.
Your support and understanding is key to our success. Please
help teachers transition the children to/from classrooms,
particularly after breakfast and during snack. Be mindful to
clean up after yourself before classes end. And finally, we
ALWAYS welcome new volunteers and board members.

Our general schedule and weekly themes will be included in
your welcome pack and are posted on our web site as well.

Please watch for updates on our message board. If you are not
on our mail list, please let us know. We use it for reminders and
cancellations.
