Here is some good information on Lime Disease. It is that time of year.

 

Lime disease can be avoided by using repellants and checking for ticks in the evening after a hike and again the next day. Remember: In most cases, the tick must be attached for 36-48 hours or more before the Lyme disease bacterium can be transmitted.

Also, as the article below points out, there is a frequent occurrence of false negatives in the diagnosis of Lyme Disease.  Since the consequences of not being treated in a timely manner are severe, it's important to recognize that possibility and make sure your doctor is aware of it, too.
