12 showed up for a very hot (for April 9 and recent
Tuesdays) hiking day on Tuesday for the 11th Annual Redbud Half-Hundred
Challenge and 6 managed to do more than 19 miles. This is the 6th
year for this especially difficult course (which we now believe is actually
33 miles), and the heat slowed us down or cut our distances short.
Nevertheless, I managed 28.5 miles in 10:25, and five others completed all 33
miles: Mike Christiani and Dave Green in 11:23, Tom Kloster and his
daughter Laurie in 11:55 and Gene Whitaker in 12:25. I'll be in touch soon
with the finishers to make arrangements for them to collect their prizes.
Congratulations and thanks to everyone for keeping this tradition alive.
