Plan B

I’ll chicken out and go with plan B – Patapsco State Park and save the Paw Paw Tunnel for this fall.

 

We’ll do about 15 miles depending on conditions.   There are enough things of interest to make the hike worthwhile.

 

We’ll meet 7am at Carderock.   From Va take the Beltway over the Cabin John Bridge into Maryland and take the first exit and go west(left) onto the George Washington Parkway.  Take the first exit, cross over the parkway and down under the canal.  At the “T” turn right and then left into the parking area.

 

Take I 495 north then east 15 miles to I 95 north                               

Take I 95 north 16.6 miles to exit 43A, MD 100 toward Glen Burnie. 

Go 1.0 miles and take exit 6B, US 1 north. 

Follow US 1 north 2.5 miles to McDonalds on the right (just past Burger King).  We will regroup there. 

Turn left out of McDonalds onto US 1 south (back the way we came).

Turn right at the next light onto Montgomery Road. 

Go 1.2 miles and turn right at the church onto Landing Road.

Go about 1.5 miles and park along the road at a place with woods on both sides.   This is across from Grovemont Drive

 

The McDonalds where we regroup (see above) is about 50 minutes from I-70/I-270 in Frederick (add so time for Rush Hour).   Try to meet us at McDonalds at 8am.

Go east from Frederick on I-70 about 35 miles to exit 87A US-29.

Take US-29 south 3 miles to MD-100 east exit 22.

Take MD-100 east exit 22 6.5 miles to US-1 exit 6B.

Go north 2.5 miles to McDonalds on right.
