mod_fcgid or mod_fastcgi response slow for my application in Centos

Hi
I have configuring my perl application with mod_fastcgi/mod_fcgid in centos(5.6) to improve the speed of apache. but having no effect of fastcgi module. its having same response time for the apache request.
Centos having the default setting of httpd.conf file, not modifying anything.
At same time I have configure my appication with Ubuntu 11.04 and configure the same with mod_fastcgi/mod_fcgid. In Ubuntu I am getting the good response for my application as I expected.
Ubuntu having the default setting not modifying anything.
Please guide if I missing anything.
