MySQL Starting error

Hi Frineds,

I want to Install TWO Instances of MySQL on Fedora 10. I installed one instance of MySQL using yum and its working perfectly fine. For Second Instance I downloaded the Binary and Placed it to another folder. Now when i am trying to start mysql service of second instance it gives me below error 

ERROR! MySQL manager or server PID file could not be found!
Starting MySQL.. ERROR! Manager of pid-file quit without updating file.

Error in /var/www/mysqld.log

Can you tell me how you installed second mysql, then how you start and give me my.cnf for second installation.

I have attached my.cnf. I Place my.cnf into /usr/local/mysql1 which is my second instance directory. I Just Downloaded Binary from MySQL website and I just placed into /usr/local/mysql1

and I copied mysql.server into /etc/init.d/ as mysql1 and in mysql1 i changed basedir and datadir and then i am just starting mysql1 server then i am getting that error which i mentioned above.

If i am doing wrong to install second instance then please tell me how to install it. Thanks

I did same ting on my laptop and its working. I start both instance with different ports and different my.cnf file.

 

it is working for me.

 

for your cases your mysql second instance did not find mysql database which is default database.
