Which edition of VersionOne are you using? Ultimate, Enterprise or Team?

No matter what I put, it always gives me an error below:
VersionOne Warning: The attribute Project is required and was not supplied. This change was not saved. Please alert your administrator if you continue to have an issue.
Is there anyone else looking for this issue right now or... This is kind of urgent for us. Also, within the Community, I haven't seen anyone proposed the same question: Import test cases from TM into VersionOne.
Thanks to let me know the status or the progress...
Regards,
June
We are using VersionOne Ultimate. I've been spending many hours to find out how to import test cases from TM into VersionOne.
If you can please help to solve the problem I have, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think I know what the issue is. As you are using Ultimate, I'm guessing that you are trying to import these tests as Regression Test assets. The provided Excel import template is only setup to import Acceptance Test assets. As Acceptance Tests only exist as a child of a Workitem (backlog item/defect), there is column to be used to designate project. To get your import to work, you will need to add a column labeled Scope to the existing Test Import template. In this column you will need to specify the project name where you want your tests to reside. You will also need to set the values in the AssetType column to RegressionTest. This should get you going.
Thank you for your solution.
What I did try in the last few days, I added a column - Scope at the end. And I put my project = A\B\C , but it is not working.
I saw one of the gentleman replied to one the question, he suggested to put A>B>C.
I'd like to double confirm what is the RIGHT format for the project.
The following fields I am going to put in the standard excel format:
- AssetType = RegressionTest
- Name = Test Case name
- Scope = A\B\C (I will correct after your confirmation for the project format)
Please correct me if anything is missing in the above. Thank you greatly.
First of all, please discard my previous email sent to confirm the format and data..
It is working now after I tried again. However, there is a little bit concern and I am not sure this is the key that caused 'Upload' function failed.
I did add a column - Scope at the end of the last column in the standard excel format. But then I failed.
Today, I added this column right before 'Parent' and it works.
Also the Scope, I put A\B instead of A>B (I read one of the email exchange.) and it works.
- One last thing for this subject is the "Steps" and "Expected Results". I have to copy ALL the steps in ONE column, same as Expected Results.
Else it will create 1 Test Case per 1 Step with the same Test Case Name in VersionOne. Do you have any solution for this??????
Thanks greatly for your helps.
I tried another way for Steps and Expected Results.
I used the excel file that I downloaded from TFS to Excel. I just modified the Title and some column name to be EXACTLY match the standard format in VersionOne.
After I fixed few typo mistakes in the excel file, I click on 'Upload'. Since then, it is still uploading because this button is still greyed out but no error message is complained so far...
The reason why I asked or I tried is to safe some works of modifications either in the excel file OR in the VersionOne after uploading successfully.
Hopefully you and your team can help us....
Thank you greatly for your helps.
Update for the following subject:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I used the excel file that I downloaded from TFS to Excel. I just modified the Title and some column name to be EXACTLY match the standard format in VersionOne.

Because there is no message displayed to show either there is an error OR 'Upload is successful..', so I thought it is still uploading. But, in fact, it is done long time ago.
For the rest of issues: Steps + ExpectedResults are active.
Thanks,
I'm happy to hear that you are making progress. Unfortunately, I do not have any better way of recording the steps and Expected results info. VersionOne stores both Steps and Expected Results in rich text field attributes on the Regression Test record. Using the import, each row in excel is treated as a unique record, as you have discovered. The only way to import all of the Steps and Expected Results for a test is to ensure that those values are in the appropriate cell for the appropriate record. If it helps, In Excel using Alt+Enter while inside a cell will create a new line within the cell. At least this way you can format the Steps and Expected Results in the worksheet to appear in more of a list format.
Thanks for your helps.
Unfortunately, the way I am trying (as you've recommended) is not working either.
What that happened is the VersionOne ONLY take the first row with the cell (test case name) into VersionOne.
So what I am going to try is to MERGE ALL the separate cells within one single test case (one cell) into just ONE cell like the Test Case and AssetType.
I will let you know if I will succeed this way...
Have a great weekend.
Thank you & Regards,
I discovered a way to merge all the separate cells (Steps) into one without losing data.
But, then I uploaded this excel file into VersionOne successfully. In VersionOne, it automatically deleted ALL SPACES (including CR) and put EVERYTHING in one line.
Perhaps, VersionOne can have a small fix for this topic???
Thank you for this information. I should say it's one step closer to what we expect.
But, is it possible to have in a separate line rather than to have spaces in between two steps???
It is to say that whatever the format in the excel is, once uploaded successfully, the format in VersionOne should be the same as the input excel file.
That way all what we need to do is to copy and paste in the excel file. No more modifications in the VersionOne after uploading.
Thank you
Yes, I know.
But, in the VersionOne, the standard format is in Excel file.
If I convert all the test cases into HTML other than Excel, I cannot upload this file into VersionOne.
How did your technical coaches import those test cases into VersionOne from html format if it only accepts excel file format?????
Thank you.
June
Hi June,
-Luanne
Since the Steps are captured using a Rich Text Format, you can simply add the HTML tags within the Excel file. So the Steps column in the spreadsheet will have the content similar to the example Luanne has provided. See attached example.
Thanks,
Matt Badgley

Thank you for you both. Now it is working EXACTLY like I expected in the VersionOne.
All the detail steps are in a separate lines rather than to be all in one line!!
Thank you.

Luanne,
You mean that I should add <br/> in each cell in excel file?
Can you provide a simple example???
Thank you.

Within the excel content you would add the line break directly
