I think this is one of the longhorned beetles, probably in the subfamily Cerambycinae.  I don't have access to my longhorn references right now, but will check tomorrow when I do.

Subject: Beetle ID

Hi Kent et al.,

I had a chance to check our references, and I think this beetles is Xylotrechus colonus, the so-called rustic borer.  According to Yanega (Field Guide to Northeastern Longhorned Beetles), larvae feed "in and under bark of virtually all eastern hardwoods, esp. hickory, also pine."  Here's the BugGuide link for more photos and info:  http://bugguide.net/node/view/6767
