I was checking out your website, and I think it would be a good idea to
mention that all kosher wine is 100% vegan.  Due to strict Jewish laws,
all wine must be made without any animal by-products whatsoever, no
meat, fish, dairy or eggs, so kosher wine is always a great choice for
vegans!

I would love if this were true and I have some kosher wines on my list
(http://vegans.frommars.org/wine/?query=israel), but I've seen
contradictory information in this. For example this article claims
that egg whites may be permissible by some kosher winemakers:

http://www.vrg.org/journal/vj97jan/971wine.htm

Smithfield wines sell lots of kosher wines, but includes none of them
in its vegetarian/vegan selection, which is odd:

Is there somewhere written down that all kosher wine is 100% vegan?
Does the interpretation differ from one organisation to another do you
think?

Thanks,

I inquired with a Jewish colleague at work and kosher is not necessarily 100% vegan.  They can guarantee there is no dairy but it may contain egg and be considered kosher, but that's not vegan.  I deleted those emails before I completely understood the issue, but I would not say that kosher wine is all vegan however vegan wine IS kosher.  :)

I have to agree that to my knowledge, kosher does not necessarily mean
that something does not contain what we might consider meat.  I am not
convinced that Jewish law is as strict as many (most?)
vegans/vegetarians are.
