"Food Security" means that all members of our society have access to enough food at all times. The food must be nutritious, sufficient, safe and environmentally sustainable. Presently on Vancouver Island, we do not have food security. 90% of our food is brought in from the outside.

There are not very many people subscribed to this group...a dozen or so, and the discussions that were hoped for have not happened. We seem to only be getting occasional porn, which is easy to delete but annoying. Any other ideas anyone? Sharon Jackson

It seems that folks are not interested in facts but only in following
an idea. Probably an idea worth persuing. That of buying within a
close perimeter. It seems to me that if we are to achieve that

I watched tonight on Global as a couple discussed Fraser Valley butter
while trying to buy local. Fraser Valley butter is packaged in
Abbotsford but thanks to the marketing board is in fact produced in
Quebec. Large blocks of butter are shipped from Quebec and repackaged
