1. In lieu of practice today, the Van Wyck Baseball team will be
shuttled to John Jay High School to support the Varsity Patriots in
their first round playoff game. Parents must arrive at John Jay to
pick players up no later than 5:00 PM but are strongly encouraged to
stay and support the John Jay Baseball Program. Before leaving the
game, please be sure to touch base with one of the coaches. Coach

2. The May 23rd and 30th broadcasts of "WCSD on the Air" will be
special presentations of "Spotlight on John Jay." They will feature a
tour of the Patriot Cafe, commentary on student awareness of politics,
and two Student Spotlight segments - Caitlin Bailey and Jason Dinelli.
"WCSD on the Air" is broadcast every Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. on
Cablevision’s Local Access Channel, channel 21. Extend an invitation
to “tune in” to all interested parties.
Please be reminded that students of the Broadcast Arts classes may be
conducting interviews and/or collecting video/photographic/sound
images of school events/activities which may appear on broadcasts of
“WCSD on the Air.”

3. The Igniters will be meeting next Tuesday, May 29th for a free ice
cream party. New visitors are welcome.
4. There will be a Smile for Niall Committee meeting next Tuesday,
May 29th after school for students and staff. Students will meet in
the cafeteria and you will take the late bus home.
5. Jazz Ensemble rehearsal is cancelled for today.
6. Attention 7th and 8th grade orchestra members. Any orchestra
member who would like to come down for help on NYSSMA Majors music may
do so today. Also do not forget to come play your final exam
audition. There are no empty slots on May 30th, the last day of
auditions. This is a major part of your grade and the spots are
almost gone! Please come sign up on
the lesson room door today if you have not done so.
7. 7th graders; If anyone had artwork in the Festival of the Arts,
please come by Ms. Roa's art room (120) to pick it up. If you do not
want your work, please let Ms. Roa know. Everything remaining will be
discarded at the end of the school year.
8. Dear Parents of 8th Graders,
Tickets for this year's Moving Up Ceremony will be
available Tuesday, May 29th and Wednesday, May 30th during lunch
periods only. Each 8th grade student is eligible for 2 tickets. The
students simply need to go out to the ticket table and claim their
tickets. Inside each ticket envelope is a written request form for
additional tickets. Up to two additional tickets can be requested per
student. Additional tickets will be given out Thursday, May 30th in
exchange for a completed written request form for additional tickets.
