1. QSP ORDERS ARE IN!!!

If you placed a QSP Fundraising order you will need to come to Van
Wyck to pick that order up on
Monday, November 16th.

Pick-up will be in the school cafeteria between the hours of 3:00pm
and 8:00pm.

Orders cannot go home on the bus with the students!

2. BOX TOPS HOMEROOM WINNER

And the winner is.......Mrs. Evangelisti's Homeroom 230, thank you for
taking the time to collect 1,113 box tops! Your homeroom will be
treated to a Breakfast soon.23 homerooms participated and we collected
6,062 Box tops. A huge thanks to all of you in making this a $600
strong success.
The deadline for the next homeroom contest is Friday, February 19th
2010. With the holiday season coming, I am sure this time we will beat
this number and do better for our school. Each boxtop coupon is worth
10 cents for our school which helps fund the various programs run by
the PTA.Please visit www.boxtops4education.com for more information on
ways to earn for your school and a list of participating products.

A REQUEST---PLEASE DO NOT THROW AWAY ANY BOX, CONTAINER, OR WRAPPING
UNLESS YOU YOU HAVE CLIPPED THE BOX TOP COUPON ON IT. IF CLIPPED,
SAVED & BROUGHT TO SCHOOL, IT COULD CONTRIBUTE TO 1000s OF DOLLARS FOR
OUR SCHOOL. Thank you for taking the time to make a difference for
our school.

3. Here's your chance if you:

* were absent
* forgot portrait money
* need a retake
* didn't buy portraits or want more

Just show up looking your best!

* for retakes - be sure to return your original portraits
* to purchase new portraits - pick up a flyer in advance from the
school office

The date is Friday, November 20th

4. Attention all 7th and 8th grade girls interested in trying out for
cheerleading for the basketball season. You must attend the
informational meeting on Thursday, Nov. 19th. It will be held from 3
to 3:45 and you can take the late bus home. Any questions, see Mrs.
Marinaccio in room 107.

5. Dear Parents,
Guidance is starting a lunch group for those students who are new to
Van Wyck. If your child is new to this building and you would like
them to join a group that would help them feel more comfortable at
their new school, meet and make new friends, and have a safe place to
share their excitement and/or apprehensions about their new
environment, please contact Mrs. Smith at
227-1700 X 110.


6. HELP WANTED -- HELP HOMELESS DOGS AND CATS

Bring donations to Rm. 124 during Homeroom. Homerooms with the most
items will win a breakfast break. The following items are needed: cat
food, dog food, toys, treats, clean blankets and towels, and cat
litter. Animal Rescue Foundation, DCSPCA and the students in Rm. 124
