1. No Project Homework today. No late buses.

2. Dear VW Parents/Guardians - the VW apparel sale has ended and was
a huge success - orders will be in and distributed prior to the
December holiday break. Thank you for your support!

3. As you know, the annual food drive is on its way ( November 30th -
December 12th)

All home rooms are asked to compete for a juice/bagel/donuts
breakfast. This is such a worthwhile cause during the Holiday
Season. We have a lot of Van Wyck families that are in need of our
help.

I am sure we all know someone who has been affected by our economic
situation. Just think next year this time, who knows whose name will
be on that list. Show your Van Wyck spirt and give a little, or what
you have. Everything is appreciated.

4. The PTA will begin collecting the 8th graders baby pictures for
the yearbook. Bring in your baby photo with your name on the back to
your 1st period teacher. We will do our best to have all photos
returned. We're looking for a great turnout so get your pictures in by
December 1st.

5. The QSP fundraisers were distributed. If you did not pick up your
order, your next opportunity will be on December 2nd beginning at 6:30
pm through the end of the PTA meeting. This will be the final time for
pick-up, please mark your calendars.

6. *Gifted program fall deadline nears*

November 30 is the fall deadline to enroll a bright 2nd-8th grade
student into the annual academic Talent Search sponsored by The Johns
Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY). In CTY's
national program, 2nd-8th graders take special tests, offered
locally, that let families see a child's math and verbal talents. The
tests can also qualify a child for CTY's summer or online courses for
academically talented young people. For over 30 years, CTY has tested
over 1.5 million bright young people. Financial aid is available for
children eligible for the free- and reduced-price lunch program.

7. Dear Parents,
Guidance is starting a lunch group for those students who are new to
Van Wyck. If your child is new to this building and you would like
them to join a group that would help them feel more comfortable at
their new school, meet and make new friends, and have a safe place to
share their excitement and/or apprehensions about their new
environment, please contact Mrs. Smith at
227-1700 X 110.

8. BOX TOPS

The deadline for the next homeroom contest is Friday, February 19th
2010. With the holiday season coming, I am sure this time we will beat
this number and do better for our school. Each boxtop coupon is worth
10 cents for our school which helps fund the various programs run by
