Here is some interesting research showing how all the parts of our bodies work together. Rational thought is only a small part of it.

Excellent, thanks for sharing. It's also good to see that the role (if
it is a role) is now official with capital letters!
The exerpts are in the thread here ..

Hi David,

Jeremy Shapiro, a prof at Fielding, brought this article to my attention. Might serve as an inspiration: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/31/magazine/31ecopsych-t.html?

And Gregory Bateson would seem required reading for your role:
Bateson, G. (2000). Steps to an ecology of mind (University of Chicago Press ed.). Chicago: University of Chicago Press.

Yes, I see these as being pertinent to the beliefs and values of the
people assuming this role.
Stewart, in related thread, refers to the challenge of being in the
engagement of "evolved" humans, so everyone is included.

Some points from the article I notice:
How does nature optimise the mind?.. Kahn
The way we think about the world can change the world, and the world
could in turn change us..Bateson

A question from me...How will we know that the mind is mended, or that
humans are "evolved?"

David

Yes David, et al (sorry I was a lawyer once upon a time ago) evolution here
is
essential. As Einstein loosely said the thinking that created this mess is
not going to
get us out of this mess. The task is to be beyond thinking about self only
and
into a consciousness of impact on team, organization, "society,"planet....

Hi David,

Now that is a question that opens up a landscape for discovery. I suggest we don't try to answer it. Let it lead us to where we need to go to find out!

Lightly, Sergej

Thanks, Stewart. Glad you find the Academy uplifting and suits you.
Ken Wilber's work referenced is hugely helpful, too
I experienced a single group session (face to face) in the UK which
strives to "discovery" and joining up the dots.
This group looks far more structured.

For some, enlightenment may be an important element, but only part of
the story. Guidance from elsewhere needs to get its act together!
For one thing, the Council of Nicaea in 325 is regarded by some as
having over ridden some important opinion, and resulting in a creed
which, although doctrine, is *incomplete*.

But suggest the detail of spiritual enquiry is off this topic!

Could be time for reflection!
You sound like UK Premier Disraeli who said something on the lines,
"Look there go my people. I must follow, for I am their leader!"
Cheers.David
