Hi Verna,

Thanks for noticing. These blogs are notes that I am taking for a PhD
paper on the emergence of value networks. Yesterday, I posted a
summary of Stabell and Fjeldstad's article here:
http://businessjazz.blogspot.com/2009/10/stabell-and-fjeldstads-value-networks.html

Next is a review of your own 1999 article ;-)

Cheers, Sergej

Oh goodness, that one is an antique! Maybe a comparison of that one
with the one from 2008? Us old dogs really can learn a few new tricks!

Sure, I will put the term into perspective of the most recent writings. I have also gathered a list of terms that are (partly) synonyms that I want to bring in next and contrast with value networks. Think:
  • Strategic Networks
  • Smart Business Networks
  • Strategic Alliances
  • Strategic Networks
  • Business Ecosystems
  • Value Constellation
  • Value Webs
  • Business Group

Going back in time serves my need to learn of the emergence of the term historically. Personally, I think your "revolutionary" article very nicely and consciously puts value networks forward as a theory of field and exchange between people rather than a competitive strategy tool only ;-). Also the expanded framework for Intellectual Capital that you create there is of value to understand better what might be meant by value conversion.

Cheers, Sergej

Sergej, I really like this list of synonyms idea. Language is
constantly evolving and it is more art than science to try to
determine what language is going to "stick." There is a glossary of
terms on the open site that could also be updated or "wikized" (is
that a word, Martin?) Martin Cleaver has suggested that it may be time
for the community to support a wiki.

Verna.
