David asked me to provide an overview of recent updates and resources
for value networks. The field is expanding rapidly and we have made a
number of adjustments to support its growth
There is now a core group of community contacts that are supporting
the community on a volunteer basis to maintain the quality of the open
resource site (
www.openvaluenetworks.com) and contribute to the
conversations. Many of these people are qualified VNA practitioners or
have demonstrated a continuing commitment to the community over time.
Jen Shields and Fran Kelly provide professional support for the group
and are sponsored by Value Networks.com. Jen is a general contact
person for value network questions and Fran is the website manager for
www.openvaluenetworks.com.
You can see those who have committed their support here:
http://www.openvaluenetworks.com/contact.htm
The current core group includes David Meggit, Sergej Van Middendorp,
Charles Ehin, Laurie Lock Lee, Patti Anklam, Camille Venezia, Mike Van
Vliet, Judith McCrory, and me. We anticipate that membership will
change over time and welcome people who would like to take an active
role. There is no requirement to be a certified practitioner although
it is expected that value network analysis is a key activity in your
work.
This group determines the content of the open resource site and
maintains the quality standards. The open value networks sites accepts
contributions for:
Articles and White papers on value network topics Research - published
academic articles and research reports Events - related to value
networks Case Studies - stories of applied VNA Blogs - of people who
are actively addressing networks and business value Applications for
VNA Resources - research centers, books, links How-To Guides -
specific methodology guidelines Community - photos of events and
gatherings There are two community groups that they also oversee.
Mike Van Vliet and David Meggitt are the managers of the Linked In
Open Value Networks Group

The Open Value Networks Group is a non-commercial network that is
leading value network standards, taxonomies, visualization, analytics,
vocabulary, methods, tools and techniques. And is closely connected to
the Open Value Networks website. All are welcome to join, review the
diverse papers, practices, communities, and links at the site.
This Google Group is also an important cornerstone of the community
and will continue to be active. So why have two?
The Google Group is a general discussion group and includes several
hundred "lurkers." Participants in the Google group do not for the
most part have a profile and can be quietly anonymous while they are
determining their level of interest in value networks. While a few
have technical expertise in VNA, most members are primarily followers
of the topic and apply the concept a wide variety of ways. The
discussions are far ranging and are monitored only for spam and
flaming behaviors. So it is very relaxed and open.
The Linked In Group is for those who are serious value network
practitioners, developing their technical expertise and wish to
actively contribute to building the body of knowledge in value
networks. Since it is a requirement that everyone have a Linked In
profile this group is designed for professional networking and
professional development.
In addition to the community sites, ValueNetworks.com also provides a
professional community group on Linked In for people who are active
users of the ValueNetworks.com applications, methods and tools.

This group has an RSS feed from the ValueNetworks.com blog and is
managed by Verna Allee, Oliver Schwabe and Jen Shields.
ValueNetworks.com is growing rapidly and there is an expanding
community of customers, service delivery partners (such as
consultants) and system integrators that are now working with our
products and services. This Linked In group is clearly focused on the
ValueNetworks.com applications, methods and services. It is open
membership and anyone is welcome to join.
Finally, the ValueNetworks.com blog at
http://valuenetworks.com/public/blog/207591
covers items of interest to business leaders and managers who are
implementing value networks in their organization. It is updated
several times a week and we welcome guest contributions.
If you have any questions on this or would like to become more active
yourself just contact

On a personal note I am absolutely thrilled that the global interest
in value networks has grown to a level where so many different
activities are underway. The most exciting thing is that we are still
very much at the beginning and the value network movement is really
starting to snowball. Recent economic events and the growth of social
networks have sharpened interest in modeling business itself as value
creating networks and we are perfectly poised for scaling up rapidly
in the months ahead. A very big thank you to all of you and especially
the continuing contributors to this space.
