Subject: National Hurricane Preparedness Week and State Preparedness Tax Holiday

Hello Everyone,

Next week is National Hurricane Preparedness Week and next Friday, June 1st, Hurricane Season officially begins and will run through November 30th.  In fact, we have already had our first tropical storm, Alberto which formed last week.  Virginia also has a “Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday” which starts tomorrow through May 31st.  Attached is a flyer that lists all the items that are tax exempt  -  you can print this flyer and take with you to the store.  Take a look at the list, there are some very handy items on it and who doesn’t like to save money?  I am also attaching a copy of our Shenandoah Valley Hurricane Guide to help you get prepared for Hurricane Season.  Below are some websites that also have some wonderful and useful information as well as the list of names for 2012.

Why not use this long holiday weekend as a chance to get prepared for severe weather and emergencies?  I’ll bet you have many preparedness items at home already.  If you need any additional information or if I can help in any way, don’t hesitate to contact me.

I hope each of you has a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Rebecca

Hello Valley Hams ,
With summer vacations creeping up on us, gas prices soaring, and having to make new holes in our belt loops to keep them tight, the last thing you want to hear or read about is a ham radio and test equipment sale.
Soo, I will tell you anyway. Several local hams are handling the sale of the ham radio/test equipment from the estate of Silent Key W4BLD (Robert "Bob" Kerby).  Now, for those of us who still buy from time to time or just have to have that one item, we have created a web site for you to browse. The site has the listing of all items with prices and some picture links. Please save it as a favorite because new items will be added over the next several weeks. The disclaimer on the web site page explains the details.
Some of you reading this email have handled estate sales before and you know very well the hassles, complications and the amount of work and time that is needed. It can feel very personal at times.
Many of you knew W4BLD. For me, this venture has been quite a history lesson.
