I know this is somewhat off-topic, but I know from the off-hand comment Mitchell made at his OSCON presentation that others experience crashes from virtualbox on OSX.  In particular, I seem to be susceptible to them when I do a 'vagrant halt' or 'vagrant suspend'.  I am also working with multiple vagrant nodes (3).  Guest OS is Centos 6.3 minimal I pulled from vagrantbox.es

Googling the topic reveals a ton of host OS crash bugs in Virtualbox over the years, but no clear and obvious fixes.

Has anyone found any magic incantations (I'm thinking virtualbox settings for the guest VMs) to help alleviate these kinds of issues?

I'd be more then interested in decent solutions here too. I curse
every time I do a vagrant destroy without thinking about it and am
then presented with the lock screen a few seconds later with a ton of
apps open.

cheers,

Walter

Does enabling host i/o caching on the virtual disk help? As mentioned here:

VirtualBox 4.1.22 claims to have finally fixed the OS X crashing issue.
