debugging and log file locations

Hi,
trying to debug what is vagrant, virtualbox gem, virtualbox is quite
subtle without any log files.
At the moment I see vagrant silently fail, but can see that the
VBoxSVC and VBoxXPCOMIPCD processes startup.
~/.vagrant/logs is empty
No VM gets created so there is no VM log in the VirtualBox Gui.

Appreciate any suggestions about how to get some detail on what is occuring.

Logging is a place which definitely needs work in Vagrant. 

This probably won't make it into Vagrant 0.8.0, but its a pre-1.0 feature for sure.
