[vagrant-up] Why sudo in "sudo gem install vagrant" ?

Hello,

just wondering: is the sudo call actually necessary ? These days most
gems install properly without sudo.

Is it required ?

Its not required as all. Actually, I should probably remove it from the docs. I'll do that.
