Subject: [ANN] Vagrant 1.0

Hello,

I'm extremely proud and excited to announce the immediate availability of
Vagrant 1.0, the culmination of years of development, over a hundred
contributors, and one amazing community. Vagrant 1.0 is released today on
the anniversary of the first release 2 years ago. The new release is
available immediately from vagrantup.com .

The website for Vagrant has been updated across the board, along with a
beautiful new homepage thanks to Adam Debreczeni. The documentation is
completely up to date and covers far more, the getting started guide has
been updated, and every configuration option available in the Vagrantfile
is now properly documented.

The biggest news with Vagrant 1.0 is that the recommended installation path
is now through official installers and packages. Vagrant now has installers
available for Mac OS X 10.5+, Windows 7, Debian, Ubuntu, Redhat, CentOS,
Fedora, Arch, and Gentoo. I'm interested in supporting more platforms if
there is sufficient demand, but for now this is what is available. To
download Vagrant, please visit vagrantup.com and click "Download."

Equally important is that Vagrant 1.0 is the first release where backwards
compatibility for the Vagrantfile will be maintained for the far future.
Backwards incompatible changes to the Vagrantfile will no longer happen
(exactly how this will be achieved will be revealed in the future, as I've
devised a way to do so without compromising innovation).

Vagrant is already in use by companies and organizations including Mozilla,
LivingSocial, EventBrite, Yammer, Disqus, and many more. I hope that this
stable release will help further instill the confidence necessary for many
more to make the switch.

This release would not have been possible without the fantastic support
I've had from everyone who was brave enough to use Vagrant before a true
stable release, and I'd like to say thank you to all of you. I'm afraid
I'll miss specific folks, so I won't call out any names specifically, but
I'm sure those of you know who you are, who went above and beyond to make
Vagrant what it is today.

Congratulations everyone, and cheers to the future.

Best,
Mitchell
