Description: LewisGale Medical Center is currently seeking experienced Registered Nurses for the Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Department for full-time, and PRN positions. LewisGale Medical Center(LGMC) is a 521 bed medical center that serves as the hub of HCA Virginia Health System in Southwest Virginia. The medical center has provided state-of-the-art medical care for residents of the Roanoke Valley and Southwest Virginia for more than 100 years. In addition to three sister facilities, we are now an integrated-delivery health system that also includes several outpatient centers, two cancer centers, and hundreds of physicians who partner with us through various affiliation models. Our family of HCA Hospitals in Southwest Virginia has recently become the first and only health system in the region to have fully accredited Chest Pain Centers at all of its hospitals. Additionally, LGMC is ranked in the top 10% nationwide for quality heart attack and heart failure care, pneumonia care, and surgical care-infection prevention. Our two cancer centers lead the fight against cancer, with both centers being accredited by the American College of Surgeon s Commission on Cancer.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates the knowledge and skill to provide nursing care to the rehabilitation patient.
Performs job tasks to ensure personal, patient, and departmental safety.
Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
Documents required information according to hospital policy.
Functions in an organized and time conscious manner.
Demonstrates leadership in the charge nurse role by supervising delivery of care.
Presents self in a professional manner.
Initiates and documents patient teaching and discharge teaching including family and/or significant others in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
Acquires and maintains current knowledge pertinent to nursing practice in Rehabilitation.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required: Applied for State Boards or currently holds an RN license for the state of Virginia, BLS is required
Preferred: ACLS certification, Certified Rehab Nurse Certification and membership in the Association of Rehab Nurses and the Virginia Association of Rehab Nurses.
EDUCATION
Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred: Enrolled in a Bachelor s of Nursing Program.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Nursing and medical knowledge of equipment and supplies.
Preferred: One year experience in area of expertise to which applying.
