Qualified applicants will hold a Bachelor's degree in a related area and have at least 5 years of experience in the field 4 years of Veritas Storage Foundation for Cluster File System (VCS) Senior-level knowledge of Solaris administration Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Strong troubleshooting skills Strong customer service Knowledge of shell scripting (Korn Shell, Perl, etc) Knowledge of Windows OS administration Knowledge of TCP/IP troubleshooting Working knowledge of Internet protocols (DNS, LDAP, Telnet, SMTP, SNMP, etc) Experience in developing documentation such as procedures and work instructions
DESIRED:
1 year Veritas Global Clustering Solaris LDOM and VMWare virtualization Web infrastructure build and deployment experience Working knowledge of production Web hosting environments Familiarity with StorageTek 8500 and L700 and tape media robotics Strong knowledge of HTTP and HTTPS protocols General requirements include extensive use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; superior verbal and written communications; attention to detail; and organizational skills. Prefer someone with an IT degree and experience in an ITIL environment. DESCRIPTION:
This is a senior level E-Commerce operations support position located in a Web hosting co-location production operations environment. This system administrator will provide technical support in a production operations environment, and have thorough knowledge of the Solaris operating system and Sun hardware. This person will perform complex operational tasks that include monitoring of various types of applications used in a web infrastructure, analysis of the root cause of any problem issues, resolution of any/all hardware/software application problems, and escalation of any irresolvable issues to the vendor as necessary.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
This person will perform operational support of applications and servers in a Web-based production environment. Support production based problems/incidents. Work with the architecture team to implement new technologies. Maintain and update hardware, operating system and infrastructure software. Update and maintain written procedures and work instructions. Make decisions and involve others as appropriate to avoid unnecessary system outages and failures. Record and keep problem, incident, and change tickets up to date. Maintain appropriate physical security of data center racks and equipment
