The mugger.

The one who already has his gun drawn will always win over the one who
fumbles around trying to play Wyatt Earp at high noon.

FBI statistics do not agree with you.

Muggers can be distracted, have their gun on safe, have poor aim or handling
skills, etc.

If ever there was a classic and graphic example of this truism,
Hillary's craven jumping on McCain's GAS TAX "idea" has got to be
it.

Next she'll be claiming she was cheated in the Texas primaries, as
reported by Fox News, natch.

Actually the 18 year old can possess the handgun, but cannot
PURCHASE it.

The 18 year old would need to OPENLY CARRY the firearm
however, since concealed carry permits (in VA as most states)
require the applicant to be at least 21 years old.

Open Carry in VA is legal in almost all locations and required
for CHL holders in certain places such as "restaurants which
server alcohol."

OpenCarry.com and their forums are worth reading:

Wrong, Lil Obwon..
Hillary would reduce tax on consumers - and concurrently tax big-oil
profits to have that money invested in alternative energy programs.

King Obama would just screw the customers and give big oil their free
ride to excessive profits.. same old same old.

Who do you think owns "Big Oil" and why does big oil not get to
make profits similar to every other business market?

And who do you think would pay when those increased costs are
passed on to consumers?

Oh, and if you make that illegal, where will people buy GASOLINE
when "big oil" either goes into another business, leaves (more) for
overseas, or cannot afford to buy crude or run a refinery?

What "EXCESSIVE" profits?

And just wtf do you think big oil will do then? Suck it up? No, idiot, they
will just pass the additional cost onto consumers. Thanks, but no thanks for
her "help". When will people learn that corporations dont pay taxes like
normal people? It is a cost of business they pass on to the consumer.

And even if they outlaw the "pass it on" they will either MOVE THEIR
BUSINESS overseas or change to other business or be unable to
PURCHASE crude or afford to refine it.

A mugger will not attack if he even suspects that you may have a gun;
muggers prefer easy, helpless, sheep-like targets. In fact, if you
are carrying a gun then you are likely to be walking so confidently
that the mugger will look for a different victim.

I am putting my money on the people with the firearms over
the victims without one since that is where the statistics
indicate the smart money goes.

Gee, that is the real equation, not whether who wins a
particular encounter but, how many fewer people are
even violently attacked when CHL numbers go up --
as is typically in most states.

People who defend themselves with a firearm are less likely
to be injurred during a violent attack than even those who
comply with the attacker.

Rapes and other violent crimes go down as well.

Gee, isn't less violent crime a good thing?

And for the person who is carrying, the odds of surviving or
even winning an encounter go WAY UP.

People who defend themselves with a firearm are less likely
to be injurred during a violent attack than even those who
comply with the attacker.

Now this is not an argument for AUTOMATICALLY using
your firearm when attacked as situations differ, but it is
almost always better to have the choice and merely having
it will tend to make you unattractive to the average criminal.

Studies have repeatedly shown that criminals "sense" --
through body language and gait -- who the "weak" ones
are, and are statistically more likely to attack the person who
is willing to be a victim than the armed or otherwise prepared
citizen.

More Guns, Less Crime. Someone ought to write a book.
