Interaction Designer

 

Oculus is a creative, dynamic group specializing in unique software design and development for high-profile clients. We are world-leaders in research, design, development, and deployment of high-end decision-support applications utilizing 2D and 3D visualization technology and advanced user interface concepts.

 

The applicant should bring creativity and vision to projects and be able to execute independently or as part of a small team. The ability to learn rapidly and a willingness to explore are essential.

 

Job Tasks:

®      Work iteratively and collaboratively with the design manager, peer designers, project managers and engineering teams in all stages of the software life cycle from concept to production to evaluation

®      Translate and synthesize research findings, project requirements, and team input into interactive data visualizations and usable interface solutions

®      Produce layouts, interface design elements and iconography for use in the software.

®      Document design requirements, user interface specifications and workflows including scenarios, wireframes and detailed mockups.

®      Work closely with developers to continuously refine and improve the user experience of the final product.

®      Design and run observational and quantitative evaluations of the software and revise designs accordingly.

®      Participate in and/or lead concept, design and workflow evaluation with clients and users.

®      Conduct literature reviews on cutting-edge design and visualization research topics and methodology

 

Required Skills and Experience:

®      Background in Interaction Design or Human-Computer Interaction (MSc or 5 years experience preferred)

®      Solid experience in information architecture, interaction design and usability testing for multiple platforms (smartphones, tablets, desktop)

®      Well-versed in fundamental visual/user interface design principles and usability principles

®      Familiarity with concepts of data visualization

®      Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

®      Knowledge in graphic authoring software such as Adobe Creative Suite

 

Nice to have:

®      Experience with human-centered computing, including but not limited to visualization, visual analytics, human-computer interaction (HCI), and graphics.

®      Experience with advanced analytical capabilities, including but not limited to computation linguistics, machine learning and adaptive analytics is an advantage.

®      Published peer-reviewed author is an advantage.
