Hi all

A very belated new year to you all. I'm sorry there wasn't a book club in January, but here's what's happening in March: I'm going to blatantly copy what Leisa Reichelt at UX Book Club London is doing for February, and we're going to read about personas. Here's the twist: instead of us all reading the same book, we can all pick one or more books, articles, or presentations from the list below to read. So, it's really "read what you want, but come along and talk". Here's the list:

  1. Book: The User is Always Right: A Practical Guide to Creating and Using Personas for the Web (Steve Mulder and Ziv Yaar)
  2. Book: About Face 3 (Alan Cooper Robert Reimann, David Cronin) - especially chapters five and six.
  3. Book: Designing for the Digital Age: How to Create Human-Centred Products and Services (Alan Cooper and Kim Goodwin) - especially chapter eleven
  4. Book: The Essential Persona Lifecycle (Tamara Adlin, John Pruitt)
  5. Essay: Personas: The Foundation of a Great User Experience (Kevin O'Connor)
  6. Essay: Persona Non Grata (Dan Saffer)
  7. Essay: Personas and the Role of Design Documentation (Andrew Hinton)
  8. Essay: 7 Core ideas about Personas and the User Experience (Jeff Sauro)
  9. Essay: Perfecting your Personas (Kim Goodwin)
  10. Essay: Personas are for hippies... and transformation and focus (Leisa Reichelt)
  11. Essay: Are Personas still relevant to UX Strategy? (Paul Bryant)
  12. Presentation (slides + audio): Avoid BS Personas
Okay, onto the venue. Since our previous hosts, the excellent tenfour agency, closed suddenly in January, in March we're going to be meeting at ISITE. Here's the details:

Venue: ISITE Design, 2030 NW Pettygrove Street, 97209
Date: Tuesday 12th March
Start time: 6pm
End time: 7-7.30
Beer: ISITE doesn't allow alcohol on the premises, but we can go to The Lucky Lab, just around the corner, afterwards.

Any questions, drop me a line.

See you on the 12th!

Francis

This is great! We are knee deep in this work. Now if we can talk about Customer Journey's for the next meeting, that would totally rock, too! Just my two cents....
