A quick question for you if you can answer it. We have one customer
that just had a CPU go bad on a E250. Both CPUs are 400MHz UltraSPARC II
processors with 2MB of cache. The server was running fine since the end of
March '00. About a month ago the CPU died. A Sun SSE was called in to
replace the bad CPU but didn't because they have two different part numbers.
However according to the FE handbook they map out the be X1194A processors
which from our point of view is the same part number. We also order using
the X1194A part number and not the 501-5237 part number.
My concern is that the customer has two servers that are still
running fine and they have the same issue as the first one.
According to prtdiag -v the only difference between the CPUs is the
CPU Mask. One in 9.0 and the other is 10.0. Is there a significance to
this?
Below are the complete part number of each CPU.
CPU #0: Yellow Sticker: 501-5237011560
White Sticler: 5237-02 Rev 51 WK/YR
Bad CPU ->CPU #1: Yellow Sticker: 501-5445029836
White Sticker: 5445-04 Rev 51 491999
Is this a known problem?
Thanks and will summarize
