Hey Indies,

Okay, its time once again to announce another Utah Indie Games Night.
It will be held on Thursday March 29th at 7pm at the University of
Utah in Salt Lake City. Again a big thanks to the EAE department
(http://eae.utah.edu/) for hosting this event.

The format will be like last time, an informal get together to chat,
talk about the industry, see what others are doing, show off your
current project and get feedback, etc.

The event will be held in the EAE lab in the Film and Media Art
Building (FMAB). Please note this is a different building than we were
in last time the event was at the U. Full directions will be
forthcoming, but here's a map to the building:
http://www.map.utah.edu/?xmin=428063.2&ymin=4512234.3&xmax=429224.1&ymax=4512972.5&find=36&aerial=off

We'll start off the evening with a formal presentation. After the
presentation we'll break out into smaller groups for some game demos.
If you have a demo to show, please let me know before hand, so we can
plan on it better. Also, if you have any other questions, suggestions,
announcements, or something you think that would benefit the group,
please let me know. This is going to be another outstanding and
enjoyable night for everyone. I hope to see everyone there!

Sincerely,

Greg Squire

You asked for a heads-up if people are planning on bringing demos to show.  Hopefully posting here works, and this notice isn't too short!  I'll be bringing one work-in-progress, and may bring another.

I'm just sending out a reminder to you all that our Utah Indie Games
Night is this Thursday night, March 29th, at 7pm at the University of
Utah in Salt Lake City. The EAE (Entertainment Arts & Engineering
http://eae.utah.edu/) department has been gracious enough to host it
their building on campus, and we wish to give them a big thanks for
that.

I'm told that anytime after 6:00
pm you can park on campus for free (except for the pay lots, and there
are some reserved parking spaces that are off limits until 10 pm).
You can park in the lot just west of the Marriott Library, and then
walk east toward the tall sky scraper building just south of the
library. There are stairs on the east side of that building (it's the
Behavioral Sciences building), walk up those and the building (Film
and Media Arts) is on the right at the top of the stairs. Here's a map
that shows the building on campus:
http://www.map.utah.edu/?&xmin=427655.3&ymin=4511962.3&xmax=429719.1&ymax=4513274.7&find=36&aerial=off
They should have the front door propped open that night so we can come
in that way.

We'll start the evening off with a short presentation on "Building
your own M.A.M.E. arcade machine", by yours truly. (Yes, I guess it's
finally my turn to present something to the group.) After my
presentation we'll break out into smaller groups for some game demos.
If you have a demo to show, please let me know before hand, so we can
plan on it better. Also, if you have any other questions, suggestions,
announcements, or something you think that would benefit the group,
please let me know. This is going to be another outstanding and
enjoyable night for everyone. I hope to see everyone there!

I'm really sorry for the delay on this report; it's been a really busy
weekend for me. Anyhow, this past Thursday was just great! The EAE
department of the U hosted the event in their building on campus. It
was a new space for our event and it worked out great. Thanks to them
for hosting the event and for providing some delicious pizza. It was
an awesome night!

I also want to thank everyone for coming and making it great. We had
just over 30 people there, which was down in numbers from the last few
times, but still a good turnout. I gave a short presentation on
Building a MAME Arcade Machine and then had some great demos after
that.

You can read more about the event on these two blogs

I'm hoping to have our next Indie Night towards the end of May (more
details will come later). Hope to see you all then!
