Hello USF!
Hope you are all having a fabulous winter break. The Equal Justice Society
is now looking for submission to the 6th Annual Creative Justice Art Show.
So it's time to dust off those artistic skills and get those creative juices
flowing.
This year's show is entitled “Yearning to Breathe Free” and seeks to raise
awareness about domestic violence in general, but also seeks to emphasize
the particular challenges faced by immigrant victims, including language and
cultural barriers, fear of authority and deportation and the difficulties of
navigating the immigration system. Domestic violence is by its very nature
a crime that grows stronger in the shadows, where victims have limited
contact with the outside world and can be isolated by their abuser.
We are now accepting submissions and artists are encouraged to submit
artwork or performances that fit this year’s theme. The deadline for
submissions is January 31, 2010. So start working on paintings, prints,
photos, film, sculptures, songs, poems (anything you think is art!). The
submission process is also open to the public as well, so please feel free
to send this email along to anyone you know who may be interested.
More information on the submission process is available at our website:
http://usfejs.blogspot.com/ and send all questions and information on
submissions to: usf...@gmail.com
The art show will be held on February 19th and we will be accepting
suggested donations of $10 for students and $20 for professionals as an
entrance fee and all donation proceeds this year will go to La Casa De Las
Madres, a local domestic violence shelter.
Best Regards,
USF Equal Justice Society
