It looks like I will be working at my company's California HQ in early April so I can't commit to presenting. I've worked on distributed teams for years and occasionally I get flown in (getting to the ocean is pretty great).
Any takers?

Thanks,
Helena

At one point, discussing the Lucidchart architecture was mentioned. I don't know if they would still be up for that, but that would be exceptionally interesting to have a presentation on.

The first week of April is really difficult.  I'd be happy to discuss our work at Lucidchart, but I can't do it until after April 8th.  If the meeting is later in April I may be able to do it or I could do it in May.

I have some plans for some flash talks on "thinking with functions" that should be of interest for varying levels of Scala experience.  Higher-order functions are old hat to a lot of us, but there's probably something new here for everyone:
  • Function composition
  • Partial functions and filtering without predicates
  • Identifying ersatz FP in Java patterns
  • Currying and by-name parameters: Mimicking built-in control structures
  • Ordering code to match intent: Borrowing Haskell's $ and ML's forward pipe
  • Data as functions
If we don't have another speaker and people are interested I can pull some together into a full-size presentation.

So technically we have a meeting tomorrow night, but since we don't have any full length presentations, I'm guessing we are going to have to cancel until next month?

Hi All,

I am the admin on the Linkedin Utah Scala Enthusiasts group. I want to make sure that I keep the content up to date with any and all information you would like me to add. I don't check my gmail account as often as I should. Please send any important updates to Tif...@SolutionStream.com

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this group.

So, today's meeting is a moot point for me (as I'm out of town), but in the future, even if there isn't a speaker lined up, I'd still love a hack night. The Ruby user group is great about mixing things up. Sometimes they have speakers, sometimes with group-driven activities, but its almost always a worthwhile evening.

So no group tonight?
