Hi, I was wondering whether anybody knew how I could send mails to
this group from my local client. If I try to send it with a from
address of rg...@indiana.edu it fails. I even tried sending it from my
gmail account but that also bounces.

Is there a way for to not have to the Google Groups interface?

Very often the mailing list software is that stupid that you can
simply set the "From:" field in your email client to give the gmail
account. KMail allows you to do that; I'm sure other email clients
too.

Rajarshi,
You will probably have to register again with the UsefulChem Google Group with your Indiana email.  If you do that you can just hit reply to the emails from the list.  Currently the email you have on your account is with gmail.
