Since in this, as in other elections wherever, demographics is the key, what are / were the considerations, when Trump did not choose Marco Rubio as his running mate - to assure him of the Latino vote - or Tim Scott, so that he would sweep South Carolina - or a woman, Red, Black, Blue or White to counterbalance the Kamala effect ?
Whilst the commentaries available in the US press provide so much insight, if only some of the sociologists and political scientists among us, of the US or currently domiciled in the US, e.g. Kwame Zulu Shabazz ( some of us appreciated his altercations with Kenneth Harrow some time ago) if only a bloke like him or my cousin Anthony Rogers-Wright - of Facebook fame , would weigh in here occasionally with their personal touch about the state of the Union and about who would or should be coming out on top and be occupying the White House for another four years, When The Battle Is Over !
In my mind's ear, I hear Sleepy Joe Biden & His Choir, at some Pentecostal Black Church in downtown Philadelphia or Chicago (doing the best he can out there to hustle the Black Vote) belting out “ We shall Overcome” and some Joyful Gospel Sounds to his Lord, rocking with the Chicago Brothers and Philly Sisters, and with his fellow American Trump in mind, not croaking in a hoarse whisper but chanting in full-throated ease like Keats’ nightingale,
“You should never count your chickens
Before you eggs get hatched
I believe it, mmm, to my soul
You finally met your match”
“A slip of the lip
Has been known to sink a ship
And I believe I believe I believe to my soul
I finally got a winner's slip, yeah”
It was a rude shock at 4.a.m this morning when the morning newspaper ( Dagens Nyheter) was dropped through the front door and I picked it up and nearly suffered a heart attack when I saw this kind of photo on the front page : angry mobs, big banderols, red letters declaiming “ STOP TRUMP AND THE RACIST REPUBLICAN AGENDA (this one is from the New York Times)
A few days ago I was hoping that maybe the Elephant and the Donkey
Like the military and the monetary getting together when necessary
will finally get themselves together to form “A Government of National Unity”
Government of National Unity coming ?
Nope.

Well, I’m still in shock because last night, the first thing that Tim Scott said when he took the microphone at the Republican Convention, his first major statement was
” America is not a racist country !”
He who feels it knows, and he should know, after all he’s Ameri-can , or as Brother Malcolm put it, in his address “The Ballot or the Bullet” ( March 29, 1964) :
“We are a people who formerly were Africans who were kidnaped and brought to America. Our forefathers weren't the Pilgrims. We didn't land on Plymouth Rock; the rock was landed on us. We were brought here against our will; we were not brought here to be made citizens.”
Malcolm also said, “ You can’t have capitalism without racism” and to this day you have
“African Americans should not be easily duped” Kwame Toure cautions
Frederick Douglass expressed similar sentiments in Democracy Now
And over here in a faraway place like Sweden, my African-American Bro ( Lorenzo Kellam, an artist) stopped talking to me a couple of years ago ( circa 2016) after I told him I don’t think that Donald Trump is a racist. He cut me off completely. I last talked to him about four years ago, phoned to tell him that there were some artist materials on sale at IB Wahlström Art Supplies, a shop a few yards away from the spot where Olof Palme was assassinated. He said thanks for the info, we chatted briefly but there was no talk of hooking up for a beer at Hirschenkeller where we last killed a few beers about eight years ago.
Right now it’s advantage Trump the martyr who is going to get more than a few sympathy votes, but there’s a slight window of opportunity opening for the Democrats - with a little help from the election interference that’s likely to be coming from some of the powers that be in paranoid Europe , paranoid that if NATO Europe doesn’t pay their fair share of protection money, Trump might withhold the much needed-NATO support when it's critical and most crucially needed against the imaginary enemy, the Russian Bear. That J.D. Vance, his running mate has been described as a Ukraine sceptic , makes matters worse for paranoid Europe. It’s a matter of some existential concern in Europe : Now Europe must prepare for President Trump
Also, Biden ( if he remains on the ticket) will be most likely exploiting the advantages he has over Trump with regard to Climate Change on the US agenda ( thinking of sometime ago, Trump making fun of Greta Thunberg
The issue of Abortion rights could also win Biden votes from a divided America (even though Biden who does not hope to be told to quit the presidential race by THE ALL-MIGHTY might also be unwilling to listen to the views of Pope Francis or from THE ALMIGHTY about what THE ALMIGHTY thinks about the Abortion Legislation being proposed by a sinner like Joe Biden and the likes of Kamala Harris

Expert view: This one thing about the Trump shooting is very suspicious
At this point, so late in the game, there’s no room left to imagine or conclude that “a put-up job” for an unsuccessful assassination of Biden staged by Biden supporters would “engender enough sympathy for him to return him to the White House”.
If such a bullet - God forbid - merely whizzed past his ear without him having to get down - out of harm’s way - take cover - and after that raise an iconic hand like Tommie Smith and John Carlos - the Black Power salute - to declare a clean bill of health and that “I Biden fit for fight! - we must fight !! - we’re gonna fight !!! - or like Chomsky ,

It’s 110 days until the US presidential elections and given that “a week is a long time in politics” , today Biden’s down with Covid; who sabi tomorrow? Maye a cold, fatigue, jet lag, more stress, exhaustion, the doctors say
“You gotta take it easy Joe,
you’re not a young man any more…”
What we must expect is that Biden listens to common sense and transfers his allegiance to whichever candidate the Democrats believe have a chance against God’s anointed on the 5th of November.
